Evangeline: Honesty, Ingenuity and Determination
Windsor is located in Nova Scotia’s beautiful and historic, Annapolis Valley region and is known to many as The Land of Evangeline.
Almost 100 years after the deportation of the Acadians, New England poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, was inspired to write a series of poems entitled The Lady of Evangeline. The poems went on to achieve International acclaim, inspiring generations of families and were eventually translated into more than a dozen languages. They chronicled the life of a strong and courageous Nova Scotia woman (Evangeline) who was separated from her family during the deportation of the Acadians. Her qualities of honesty, ingenuity and determination ultimately led to her success in reuniting with her loved ones. Hughes. Evangeline’s current CEO is Trevor I. Hughes, the founder’s son.
